Oh Hey There…

In pasta, seasonal on December 1, 2010 at 2:57 pm

Remember that blog I used to write that exploited my adventures in cooking? Oh, right. That one. Yeah, it’s been a while. I deeply apologize to any of you who actually cared/noticed. I’m moving out of my Dad’s house and moving to NYC, so fingers crossed I actually start cooking again.

Last Thursday was Thanksgiving. If you know me, you know I love Thanksgiving. So I figured now was as good a time as any to type up a little post to put on ye olde cooking blog. My WordPress skills are a little lacking because of how ridiculously long it’s been since I last posted, but I shall try my darndest!

My sister and I decided we’d take it upon ourselves to make our specialty, macaroni casserole. I bet you’ve never heard of that one before, huh?? Well, unfortunately, there were too many cooks in the kitchen and I left the casserole-ing to my sister. I, alternately, made Stovetop! Now Stovetop may be just as pathetic as microwaveable meals, but it’s damn delicious. Trust this.

As we have just entered into the last month of the year, I plan on making one of my goals for 2011 to cook. As I am a college graduate now, the importance of domesticating myself is even greater.

Thanksgiving turned out to be…

DELICIOUS, AS PER USUAL!!

I Fail at Domesticity.

I had brilliant a idea earlier today. Or so I thought, anyway. I have this printed maxi dress that I thought could be easily transitioned into a just-above-the-knee dress. Little did I know that my sewing prowess had diminished.

I set to work using a tiny travel sewing kit that barely had any thread left.  Unfortunately, I had zero pins. I turned the dress inside out and folded the bottom up at around thirteen and a half inches. Due to the whole no pins issue, I sort of eyeballed the measurements (excluding the one place where I actually measured). I sewed in a sloppy running stitch about two inches above the edge. Needless (HA! It’s like needles with an extra “s”!) to say, it did not turn out very well. It got twisty somewhere along the way. Additionally, the extra fabric simply fell over my fake hem. I should’ve realized two inches of hemming could not hold up thirteen and a half inches of fabric. So then I tried to figure out some way to deal with the remaining fabric. I couldn’t find a resolution, so I pulled the thread out and called it a day.

I guess costume shop wasn’t as beneficial to my becoming domestic as I thought. : (

BBQ Chicken Pizza

In barbecue sauce, cheese, chicken, pizza, vegetables on March 10, 2010 at 8:26 pm

Earlier this evening, I saw someone eating buffalo chicken pizza. I had been thinking about what I wanted to eat for dinner for a while, and suddenly it came to me: I want to make pizza! I thought about what ingredients I had and what sounded like it would be good, and then I thought of barbecue chicken pizza. Sounded like a go to me.

I start by grilling a boneless chicken breast on the baby George Foreman. While that is grilling, I take out a cookie sheet and start preparing the crust. I place a whole wheat tortilla on the cookie sheet and spread on some barbecue sauce. I then sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top. Next, I cook frozen peppers for a few minutes in a sprayed pan and then scatter them over top the cheese. I then preheat the oven to 400 degrees. When the chicken is fully cooked, I slice it into small pieces and spread them on the pizza. Once the oven is preheated, I place the cookie sheet in and cook the pizza until the mozzarella has melted almost completely. I then remove the cookie sheet, slice the tortilla into fourths and dig in.

And the barbecue chicken pizza was…

¡¡DELICIOSA!!
